Vacations / Family Visits

Israel Challenge strongly recommends family visits to be done before or after the program. We understand that this is not always possible, in which case we also offer the possibility to spend time with our participants over the Succoth week. If this too is not an option we do allow taking time off the program due to family visits but for no longer than a 5 work-day period. (Considering the weekend before and the weekend after can generate a full 9 day visit.)

There are exceptions to this rule, for those participants in the options period of MDA, no days off can be taken during the initial course. For those participants in Marva, any and all days off must be approved by the military. (Take in consideration that the military does not work parallel to our 5 workday rule.)

Almost all weekends during Israel challenge a free-time. Our participants are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and get to know Israel better. If the participant is interested in staying where he/she is that is fine, but we are very interested in helping them take advantage of every single minute. Israel challenge possesses an array of ways to help and support our participants, from a simple recommendation to tents and camping gear. Anything we can do to help we are keen on doing.
